1% For the Planet

We’re delighted to announce that Warner’s Distillery has joined 1% for the Planet, a global movement uniting businesses, individuals and not-for-profit organisations together to create change.

Partnerships with the People’s Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) and the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) have already enabled us to fund vital UK conservation and sustainability work. Operation Honeybee, launched to help improve education, local habitats and pollinator awareness led to our epic team winning the 2019 Stakeholder Engagement Award at the Footprint Drinks Sustainability Awards and we’re delighted to have been nominated for a further four awards this year, including one for our work with the PTES.

“It’s about valuing the natural world, recognising our position in the landscape for what we farm and forage, and that we are all a part of nature, not apart from nature,“ explains Jonny Easter, Warner’s Conservation & Sustainability Manager. “1 % for the planet membership aligns perfectly with our journey towards  B-corp accreditation, as it helps to quantity and verify  charitable giving and community engagement.”

We have lots of exciting plans in place for 2021. These include rewilding (large-scale conservation aimed at restoring and protecting natural processes and core wilderness areas) large areas of our farm, working closely with not-for-profit organisations to reinstating wetland habitats that will support declining wildlife like pollinators and farmland birds.

“We're excited to welcome Warners Distillery to our global movement," says Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet. "Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment and, only 5% of that comes from businesses. The planet needs bigger support than this, and our growing network of business members is doing its valuable part to increase giving and support on-the-ground outcomes.”
