Warner's Sloe Swap 2022

Warner's Sloe Swap 2022

We apologise for announcing this year’s event later than usual. We chose to delay our communications out of respect for the passing of HM The Queen

Here we go! It’s that time of year again…summer is coming to an end and Mother Nature is sending her early autumnal signals, which can only mean one thing. WARNER’S SLOE SWAP!

As you guys know – as the spirit of the British countryside, we use hand-picked sloe berries to make our delicious Sloe Gin, because like with all our gins, we believe that real tastes better.

Sloe harvests are directly linked to spring and summer: too dry and sloe berries will be small and shrivelled, too cold and wet and they’ll be few and far between. It’s all about the perfect balance of sun and rain – basically, what’s good for the farmers is good for the berries.

Well, this Summer was an absolute scorcher and us farmers were crying out for more rain. Don’t get us wrong, we had some fantastic BBQ’s but we think our sloe berry harvest is going feel the effects and come in a little light.

Normally, you’d wait until the first frost to harvest your sloes but there is no need! Simply pop them in your freezer ahead of our Sloe Swap on Sunday 2nd October 2022, then bring them along to Falls Farm and exchange them for bottles of our epic farm-grown Sloe Gin.

While you are with us, we will be offering exclusive on-site access to purchase our biggest discounted products, so be sure to bring your Xmas present list!

The opening hours for Sloe Swap are 10am – 5pm.

There will be no requirement this year to book tickets for an allocated time slot, so you can show up whenever suits you. Children are of course welcome and although we prefer animals to humans, we are a working farm and distillery and therefore cannot allow any animals within the grounds.

To limit congestion, please try and keep your party to 1 car. Falls Farm has limited spaces onsite, so if you are struggling, please park at Tollemache Arms which is 50m down the road. In order to avoid disappointment please pre-book here: The Tollemache Arms in Harrington - The Perfect Country Pub (thetolly.co.uk)

We would absolutely love to show you the whole of Falls Farm but please note the Sloe Swap is very much an operational event to help get us prepared for the festive season so unfortunately staff led tours will not be offered. You and your loved ones are more than welcome to stroll through the grounds, but Warner’s staff will need to ensure that the goodies are going into the alcohol ready for maceration in time for your Christmas dinner!

Before we leave you, here are a few hints, tips, and gentle reminders ahead of the Sloe Swap:

  • Give your berries a quick blast with a hair drier to blow the leaves & twigs before you bring onsite
  • Don’t forget to freeze your sloes until the day of the swap – this keeps them ‘fresh’, whilst bursting the skins and saving us from hand-pricking the lot of them which is a total faff!
  • Like each year, there will be a prize of 1 x mixed case (that is 6, full sized bottles 😉) to the person who has collected the most number of Sloes!
  • Want to know different ways to enjoy a Warner’s Sloe Gin – check these out: 5 Top Tips For Making Sloe Gin At Home & Recipes
  • Sloes collected by you, will be swapped for Warner’s Sloe Gin under the below agreement:

2kg – 5kg = 1 x 5cl Sloe Gin (the small bottle)

5kg – 10kg = 1 x 20cl Sloe Gin (the middle bottle)

10kg+ = 1 x 70cl Sloe Gin (the big bottle)

*for every 1kg over 10kg you will fall into the above category; for example 16kg will equal 1 x 70cl AND 1 x 20cl Sloe Gin.
